Will 06 reflect the will of the people?

We have the votes, but will they count? It looks unlikely if this Salon piece is any indication of what to expect. It should be called, How to Suppress the Democratic Vote in Six Easy Lessons. Unfortunately, with the Democratics making noise but taking so little action so late in the game, the GOP will probably get away with it. However, as discouraging as it is, it's still worth sitting through the ad to read in full.

I read this article and it's scary. It also correlates to the link from Michigan Liberal that you posted at the DetNews. One of the reasons the Secretary of States tricks here in Michigan are so alarming is because of what they've done in Florida and California.

In California, voters were being dumped from registration rolls for mismatches in state internal databases, and in Florida anyone can challenge a persons right to cast a ballot and state officials must toss it in favor of a provisional ballot that will likely never be counted.

There is concern that those postcards that were sent out will be used to dump people from registration rolls and to challenge voters at polling places, particularly in heavily Democratic areas like Detroit.

This is not your "father's Republican party" that's for sure. They don't win because they have the best ideas and people, they win because they're crooks. Honest Republicans must be horrified at what's happened to their party.

You're right Kathy, it's scary as hell. They're making a concerted effort to suppress the vote and I'm sure you've the retreads on that quote about having to void the Detroit vote if they want to take the state.

It's a damned dirty trick and it's being pulled all over.
