Truth from the mouth of neo-cons?

The growing chorus of White House insiders criticizing the White House is getting to be old news as the neo-cons scramble to distance themselves from an incompetent president but this remark took me by surprise.
Richard N. Haass, a former top Bush State Department official and now president of the Council on Foreign Relations, said a radically different approach to world affairs naturally generates criticism. "The emphasis on promotion of democracy, the emphasis on regime change, the war of choice in Iraq -- all of these are departures from the traditional approach," he said, "so it's not surprising to me that it generates more reaction."
The war of choice in Iraq? Anybody remember any White House mouthpiece admitting it wasn't a necessary war before this? I don't.

I'm not that familiar with this work but I'd say that's a fair assessment after the mess Bush has made of our relations there.

Do you ever watch "the McGlaughlin group"? Tony Blankely, editor of the washington Times, has been eating crow on a monumental scale for pretty much the entire bush presidency. Pat Buchanan, Elaenor Clift and Laurence MCdonnel basically tee up and swat at him for half an hour every friday night as a means of pastime. it's what the dialogue in america SHOULD look like. if rupert murdoch wasn't in the mix, that's what it would be.

I LOVE that program. I didn't know it was still on the air. They changed the lineup though. Mort Kondrake and Fred Barnes used to be on that too. I guess they got to be too big and important pundits to do public TV anymore huh. Thanks for the heads up. I'll look for it.

Are you old enough to remember Agronsky and Company? That was the best show ever in the history of punditry. George Will was a regular and you might be surprised to know I learned to love James Kirkpatrick (Kilpatrick?) from watching that show.

I wasn't around for that one. not a very catchy title. yeah barnes and kondrake decided they were tired of having to defend and argue their beliefs so they started a crappy show on FOX called "the beltway boys" that's just them two. Fred Barnes wrote "rebel in chief" possibly the stupidest book in the history of mankind.

McGlaughln is still a great show. Elenor Clift has really stepped up her game lately, she's sharper than ever. Obviously, I'm a huge pat buchanan fan. mort zuckerman and he almost got in a brawl a few months ago when Hamas won the palestinian elections.

Bye bye!
