Clinton campaign flailing

By Libby

If you're old enough to have lived through the Nixon years, you'll probably also find the HuffPo's description of Hillary's latest messaging as over the top theatrics, a bit overstated. I've seen worse, but there was nothing subtle about that mockery. I leave it to you to judge for yourself whether it was offensive.

For myself, I was put off by it on a couple of levels. I'm really tired of negative campaigning and I found it rude. Plus, she came off like a candidate who is still struggling to find a central message which rather conflicts with the whole ready on day one theme. I don't find that reassuring.

I don't understand the strategy or the timing behind it at all. I imagine it was designed to counter the impression that she was conceding at the debate, but the inconsistency between that event and the last two days is dizzying. She went from nice Hillary, to angry Hillary to mean Hillary in the space of three days. And as skippy points out, it's an odd choice to mock faith on a Sunday.

However, Joe Gandelman asks the money question. Will it change any minds? It may have worked a few months ago, but now? I imagine it will encourage her supporters who will see a fighting spirit in the taunting but I don't see it winning any converts.

Is this a catharsis for you, Libby? Not all that profound, in any case. It's a campaign, for God's sake, and she is flailing.

Clinton's done. We get the shady Chicago socialist now, and he'll be chewed up by McCain.

I see you don't have comment moderation enabled, like your protector Cernig (oh yeah, no such thing over at Blogger commenting; Haloscan's doesn't work so well, in any case, as I comment over at your hideaway pretty often as it is).

What'd you think of Cordesman's piece over at WaPo?

"What the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan have in common is that it will take a major and consistent U.S. effort throughout the next administration at least to win either war....

Any American political leader who cannot face these realities, now or in the future, will ensure defeat in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Any Congress that insists on instant victory or success will do the same."

But that's exactly what you want, defeat, isn't it Libby? Anything that stops the war efffort, or any spin is not too outlandish, like the Rolling Stone's.

Perhaps you can go over there yourself. A little human shield action you, no?

Libby, if you were to suggest that Mr. Douglas go there himself, he would scream, "chicken hawk fallacy," and start squealing like a stuck pig. He is just a fly-by Freeper ... and a total waste of time.

Winning in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Hahaha
Winning how, rube? By killing another mill? By balkanizing the places? Is "winning" a synonym for "Halliburton profits" or "lying successfully" or just plain "endless war abroad and fucking fascism at home"?

Guys, Donald is just a troll who apparently fancies himself the next Victor Davis Hanson. I'm not going to debate him. Nothing he has to say is of interest to me. You can do as you will.

Libby, although this may shock or surprise you, I must ask you to go a little easier on the "Donald." There is new information that recently came to light. It is somewhat sensitive, and I will have to whisper, so please draw yourself closer to the monitor.

Okay, are you ready now? I understand that the "Donald" has a life threatening illness. It has come to my attention that he recently had an asshole transplant, and the asshole rejected him.
