Palin's metaphoric rise to readiness

This would be really funny if this woman wasn't actually a serious candidate for Vice President of the United States. And by serious, I mean the GOP was seriously insane when it made her one. I keep waiting for the punchline of this joke. I guess this is it
Since Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) announced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, both he and Palin have argued that her state’s proximity to Russia counts as foreign policy experience. Noting that this claim “stands on flimsy ground,” CBS News’ Scott Conroy tried to get the McCain-Palin campaign to provide “practical experience Palin had with Russia.” While the campaign largely stonewalled Conroy, one anonymous “senior campaign aide” argued the experience was “metaphorical“:

A senior campaign aide who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity admitted that Palin’s knowledge of Russia may be limited to the way someone from Miami might obtain a general feel for Latin America.

“It is very much being able to look off the tip of Alaska,” the aide said. “Metaphorically, I’m talking about.”
Metaphorically, they're slaying me.

Hey, I think this site could be a big help in exposing Palin for what she is:

The view from my balcony:

A microwave tower - that makes me a cellular communications expert

Intercoastal waterway - that makes me a maritime expert

Golf course - makes me Tiger Woods' historian

Railroad (far in the distance but closer than Russia) - a rail transport and mass transit expert

U.S. Route One (beyond the railroad) - qualifies me to be Transport Secretary

Trees - makes me an expert arborist

Buildings - makes me an urban planning expert

Sun, Moon and Stars - makes me an astronaut

VOTE FOR ME (and vote for my cat who has the same view too)

You people just don't get it. Palin has actively dealt with Russia and Canada as part of her job as governor of Alaska. She has to deal with security issues with two borders. She may not have the years of experience Biden has, but it IS experience none the less. Why people are belittling this is beyond me.

Beyond you? Really? The question isn't that there may not have been some discussion of fish or crabs, with someone with a Russian surname but Governors do not make treaties, either about trade or military matters and the kind of interaction with sparsely uninhibited Eastern Siberia she has had, is so massively insignificant, trivial, meaningless and irrelevant to the most basic requirements to be President of the US - and it's beyond you.

You know, New York City is about as close to Moscow as Her house is to an uninhabited rock that belongs to Russia. That's her best argument and you buy it?

It's not just that she knows less than almost anyone, it's that there must be half a million people so massively much more qualified by virtue of years of study and diplomatic and trade and military experience.

You should be absolutely ashamed that you can't distinguish something on the order of the difference between a Joint Chiefs Chairman and a Cub Scout den mother.

On top of it all, she's a proven liar, believes that Witches are at work in the world and has never really had aything I'd consider an education. She has to be carefully coached just so that she knows who she's talking to when she's allowed to say anything in public. Nearly anyone is more qualified, more than half the population is smarter - and it's just beyond you?

She's the dumbest, least educated and most unsuitable candidate for high office in the last hundred years and if you don't know it, you're either stupid or stupid - or maybe just stupid.

LOL Fogg. Thank you for answering this better than I could.

However, I do hope that Mark's delusions are a result of being naive rather than simply stupid.

When it's the future of the country at stake, I tend to equate such opinions with treason.

These Republican talking points and excuses for putting an ignorant incompetent at the helm aren't much different than sabotage.

Stalin, Lenin, Putin, Pushkin, Borodin, Rasputin - - - and then there's PALIN. The "-in" ending is common among Russian surnames (look it up on Google). It's only reasonable to conclude, therefore, that Sarah Palin and her husband, (who belonged to an Alaskan secessionist organization until she ran for governor) are really communists who want to join Alaska to Russia. Remember the movie "The Manchurian Candidate," wherein a secret communist ran for president so that his Russian masters could overthrow the U.S. government? That's why our Sarah joined the McCain campaign, I'll bet. She has a Russian last name, after all.

Absurd, isn't it? Just as absurd as accusing someone of being a terrorist or at the very least a terrorist sympathizer because his middle name happens to be Hussein.

Palin is supposed to be of Welch origin, but your point is never the less vary good.

These crazy objections to Obama are just that - crazy. First comes the hate, and then come the absurd reasons for it.
