Not really funny

You've probably heard Dick Cheney was hospitalized. I didn't want to get into it on Twitter, but I'm appalled at how many liberals are joking about it. Maybe it's just me, but no matter how vile I find someone, I don't wish them ill - ever.

Sorry, but I don't see how snarking about anyone in a health crisis makes us any better than the creepy conservatives that cheer the failures of their opponents.

Well, let me also add: conservatives are going to whine about liberals being MEAN AND HATEFUL whenever one of their figureheads faces misfortune, whether we actually do it or not.

Meanwhile, they say all sorts of nasty things when our figureheads face misfortune. Their reaction when Kennedy died being a case in point.

You know, human nature is what it is. Cheney is a vile person, his entire family is vile, and it should come as no surprise that there has been schadenfreude at this news of his illness.

I'm not saying it's right or moral or paints liberals in a good light or whatever. It's just human nature, and it's going to happen. It happens on the right and it happens on the left. It just is what it is.

A friend who happens to be a doctor tells me that heart operations and the meds that follow are often observed to cause deterioration in the personality of the person treated. This would explain a great deal.

I hope that this latest brush with his health will spur some introspection on his part.

Maybe it's just human nature, and I admit some of it was funny, but some of what I saw was just as mean and hateful as any Freeper might have said. It's not like I'd shed any tears if he dies, but I think it's bad karma to cheer on death for anyone.

Of course, he is vile, as is his family and I don't want to them to succeed at the evil little plots against civil society, but in a way, they win, when lefties stoop to their level.

Whatever the reason that family is so horrible, and their influence reflects in their followers who cheer on misfortune of their foes, I certainly don't want to be like them.

I'm probably over-reacting but it just bothered me. That's why I keep this blog -- to have a place to say it out loud.

I know it's wrong to feel good about someone's suffering, but he has a great deal of blood on his hands and he's done more than anyone to diminish the future of Democracy in America - yet. . .

Perhaps God will simply cause some miraculous ascension to heaven - a fiery chariot or some such.

Then we can all feel good about getting rid of the evil bastard.

Fogg maybe I'm just feeling guilty because I couldn't help but feel a little schadenfreude at the news myself.

Not all joking is the same. There were just too many irresistable jokes to come out of this considering his history(such as Dick Cheney shot his nurse in the face, or questioning if he has a heart).

However, before posting any such jokes I waited a while to make sure he was stable. There's a big difference between him going into the hospital with a chronic problem (with news reports saying he was resting comfortably) as opposed to if he was in critical condition.

I also drew the line between joking about his past and wishing any ill results--even responding that I did not hope for any negative outcomes when some did respond to my posts on Facebook by wishing he was dead.

Hey Ron. Nice to see you here. I guess I reacted because I saw some really mean remarks before it was clear that he was okay. Admit I laughed at quite a few of the clever jokes, but having heart issues myself, I didn't make any.

Is there no point past which a person loses any right to consideration as a human being? Why do we delight in the punishment of other criminals, but not this one? Why do we think less of people tortured to death by the government he infiltrated than we do of him? What about the innocents by the thousands who were "shocked and awed" to death for no reason; exiled and ruined and murdered by unrestrained mercenaries?

Would we feel bad about feeling good that Hitler is Dead?

Maybe some feel he wasn't that bad, but I don't agree. He's not contrite, given the chance he'd do it all over again and curse us for opposing him.

I think he's a horrible, evil man, and I think the world would be better off without him in it, but it still feels wrong to me cheer on his death. I think I would feel more relief than happiness at his passing. I wouldn't be sorry certainly.

When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.

Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labor.

Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children.

Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

Because that he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

As he loved cursing,so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.

As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water,
and like oil into his bones.

Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

-Psalm 109-
