The impending demise of CNN

Once it was a great news station. It makes me a little sad to see CNN commit slow-motion suicide.
Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and 2010 Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Kathleen Parker will co-host a new hour long CNN primetime news program starting in the fall as the nation prepares for the 2010 midterm election, the network announced Wednesday morning.
The yet-to-be-named “roundtable discussion” program will air at 8 p.m. ET replacing Campbell Brown.
Fair warning. Grab a bucket before you try to read the rest of that link in case the heaves get the better of you. Also, on a related note, I saw a rumor on twitter yesterday that Rupert Murdoch is trying to buy CNN outright. That sound you hear is the death knell tolling...

Demise? Are you kidding? Did you not see those reports that CNN had is as profitable as its always been? Just because it isn't the king of partisan rant prime time cable news, doesn't a failing news organization make.

Not saying it's going out of business, just saying it's no longer a reliable source of news.

It's been decades since news outlets were required to be a reliable, responsible source of news. All they've been in 30 years is a reliable source of revenue for the likes of Darth Murdoch.

Everything is about money, nothing is about anything else and comparing the US to a free country is like confusing Paris with Orlando.

We serfs can delude ourselves that we have any power, we can rattle our pitchforks and grumble and talk about taking back the country, but we don't even know who to take it back from and in the end, Baron Cargill, The Duke of Exxon and Sir Rupert, the Black Night have all the power, and we have none. All our rage only works against us because they own even that.

Sad because it's true Fogg. It may well be too late to "take it back." The corps are too powerful.
