Conflict Constitutionalists

As promised, the very reverent reading of the Constitution was staged in the hallowed halls of Congress today. The tragicomedic production was not without its moments of high drama. When they got to the "President shall be a natural born citizen" clause, a Birther in the audience burst out in an anguished solliloquy. Help us Jesus indeed.

But the drama wasn't entirely confined to the gallery. The GOP went all PC on the script and decided on an abridged version of the Sacred Document, leaving out those inconvenient original Constitution bits about prohibition and the relative less than one human value of colored people that would have just runined the happy narrative. This led to some unhappy ad-libbing on the main stage.

But in the whole, a good time was had by all. And in a nod to the old boy/girl seating rule of of bygone ages, they lined up alternately by party to say their lines. It was the epitome of bipartisan comedy comity. [graphic credit]

The 13th amendment made that section of the "Sacred Document" null and void. Just like the 21st amendment made the 18th null and void

But that was in "old days" when the Constitution was revised with the required supermajority.

LOL indeed SoBeale. And by the way, I just discovered that I have a spam folder for comments that automatically, and apparently randomly, filters out certain comments. Just found an old comment of yours that was never published. I remember wondering why I got the email notice but never saw the comment on the blog.

TDC, I thought the whole point was to read the original, "as the Founders intended." And doesn't that ruin the "orginalist" argument that the doc is set in stone?

Could you please direct me to the part that declares any group as being less then human? I can find a reference to being a partial person for the purpose of apportioning representation and taxes among the states, but no mention of one being less then human.
