As the man said on the twitter machine, an early candidate for picture of the year:
Apparently taken by some student who was in the right place in the right time. Already crashed the server at the school, but everybody has it now. Spreading like a wildfire.

is that bear falling out of a tree?
Yeah. They tranquilized him and the kid caught him in mid-air in the photo. Looks like they're holding a net so he doesn't just crash.
it kind of looks like they're just standing there. i hope they used a net haha that would be one pissed off bear. where is that? around here bears are showing up a lot. Seattle area.

I think that think they're standing around is some kind of safety net. If you click on the link the picture is a little clearer.
