When Paul Ryan loved stimulus spending

Filed under IOKIYAR, what a difference a decade makes. I mean, let's just review Congressman Ryan's vigorous defense of stimulus spending in a previous life:
“What we're trying to accomplish here is the recognition of the fact that in recessions, unemployment lags on well after a recovery has taken place,” Ryan said at the time. “We have a lot of laid-off workers, and more layoffs are occurring. And we know, as a historical fact, that even if our economy begins to slowly recover, unemployment is going to linger on and on well after that recovery takes place.”

Ryan’s advocacy of stimulus spending wasn’t limited to Washington, either. When he returned home to face constituents, he used similar language to make the case for the Bush stimulus bill. “You have to spend a little to grow a little,” Ryan told constituents at a town hall in Wisconsin in January 2002, according to the Journal-Times, a local newspaper. “What we're trying to do is stimulate that part of the economy that's on its back." [...]

“We've got to get the engine of economic growth growing again, because we now know because of recession, we don't have the revenues that we wanted to, we don't have the revenues we need, to fix Medicare, to fix Social Security. To fix these issues we've got to get Americans back to work,” Ryan said. “Then the surpluses come back, then the jobs come back. That is the constructive answer we're trying to accomplish here on, yes, a bipartisan basis.”
Back then Congressman Ryan was all about creating jobs and helping the unemployed. Fast forward to the present day and now the same policy is simply dangerous and unacceptable socialism that creates a culture of dependency.

I've already done a longer post at Detroit News on this one, so I won't repeat my commentary here. I'll just add, if overdosing on hypocrisy was fatal, these guys would all be dead.

Spencer. I would like to donate $2 to your recovery fund.

This is out of magnanimous act of generosity, because I know you struggle to recognize your moral and intellectual superiors, and probably don't want to ask.

You're so concerned with preserving' your schtick at the Detroit News, that you're willin' to concede you can't compete in the market place of ideas.

So you just pull the IT lever with your pals at the the news, so that your inferiority - in accomplishments over 60 years and in making a reasoned arguments - is not too exposed.

Allow me to take pity on you, Spencer, and send you $2 - I feel so badly, that someone with your innate talents, is an X-out after 60 years

Hey, Spencer, because you had me censored at Detroit News, where you can't compete in the marketplace of ideas, I thought I'd post on your blog what I can't post on the News blog, because of your inferiority complex:

Hey, kids, we all need to donate $2 to Spencer at the Impolitic or Last One Speaks.

Libby's innate talents aren't being recognized by the market.

Plus, she can't compete in the marketplace of ideas, but the Detroit News Bed-Wetters protect her schtick.

I think we all need to sign up to send Spencer $2!

This will make Spencer feel better, improve her self esteem!

Hey, Spencer, can you give me some tips on what someone needs to do to become an utter failure in life,

I’d like to compile these, and give them to my kids, so that they don’t these things, and end up bein’ 60 without a pot to pee in, and pathetically hidin’ behind the Wizard’s curtain as a so-called blogger and/or media maven – not even bein’ able to accomplish this menial task without the help of the PC Police.

Don't flatter yourself Jan. I didn't complain. I haven't even read any of your comments in months.

I didn't get you banned. I have nothing to do with blog admin. I don't even know who's in charge of it now. You'll have to look on the site map for an addy, but take it up with that person.

Going to let this round stand for posterity, but know in the future I will delete your comments without reading if you continue to spam this blog.

I love to flatter myself Spencer.

Here's what I told another one of your pals:

Spencer did it, xxx (name deleted, to protect the innocent), I'm sure. I'm not going to waste time confirming the obvious (with detnews). You won't get a reply (from detnews) because these bed-wetters at detnews have the perfect zero-accountability system, which plays hand-in-glove to Spencer's MO. It's not IT, xxx. That's what they tell you. They can hide your posts and, if you're still logged onto FB, you won't know the difference. This is Spencer/detnews schtick, you give them too much credit.

Hey Sobie, or Sobody or Nobody or whatever the hell your name is today:

It's hard to think of many things more pathetic than someone living in the worst place in the Western hemisphere ( well OK, perhaps Haiti is worse) and yet calling anybody a loser with those grubby fingers that stick to the keyboard.

What the hell are you up to, Mr. successful, Mr. important, Mr. yapping lapdog, spending your lonely evenings writing infantile prose condemning someone like Libby when you could be partying on your yacht or one of your villas or giving lectures at Harvard or anything that a public intellectual and community leader like you does when he's done masturbating in the basement?

Or maybe you'd better have your mother wipe your ass for you first, you De-troit troglodyte, you syphilitic loser.

You know, nobody gives a shit about you or your "regular" Neanderthal friends, if indeed you have enough of them to outfit a circle jerk. Nobody cares what you think. Nobody cares about Detroit or anything with two legs that still lives there and most of all nobody but the most ignorant and malignant sociopath credits anything that comes out your mouth any more than what comes out of your ass.

You're not important, you're not intelligent, you're not articulate or influential or consequential, and all your egotistical delusions reflect nothing but your infantile frustration in not being able to convince a Detroit cockroach that you're worthy of being listened to, you puling lackwit, you blowhard, you vile, stinking Rust Belt cur.

the only way you get your need to be noticed fulfilled is to be a self-important asshole and yes, at that, at least, you've succeeded.

Oh my Fogg. Such an articulate put-down. I would quibble with only one point. Actually I do care about Detroit generally, and Jannie lives in Texas. He's a very important oil man you know who somehow managed to rise to the top of the corporation without a firm grasp written communication.

Apparently a former Motor City resident who has been lurking around the DetNews blog forever it seems. He periodically gets kicked out of the comments and blames me every time. He used to get around it by opening a new account, but it would seem when they did the last upgrade on the website, the admin can now block by IP addy. Or something.

Only letting him pollute this thread to keep a record of his vile comments in case I ever want to file a legal complaint for harassment. I intend to simply delete any further comments in the future.
